Online Couples Therapy · Washington State

Online couples therapy in Seattle & Washington State

You can be capable, committed people and still feel stuck as a couple. Perhaps conversations about work, money, family, or parenting keep ending in the same argument. Or you manage life together while missing the closeness you used to share. Therapy creates space to understand what is happening between you and practice a different way of connecting.

I’m Dipesh Patel, a licensed psychotherapist in Washington State. I offer online couples therapy and marriage counseling for partners in Seattle, Bellevue, and communities throughout Washington. My approach combines the Gottman Method and Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), with structure, practical tools, and attention to the emotional needs beneath recurring conflict.

When your relationship needs more room

A practical approach to communication and connection

My work draws on Level 3 training in the Gottman Method and advanced training in Emotionally Focused Therapy. We look at the interaction pattern you get caught in, the feelings and needs each of you struggles to express, and the responses that make it harder to reach one another.

In sessions, we may practice bringing up a concern more gently, noticing when a conversation becomes overwhelming, making a repair, or asking directly for reassurance and support. Between sessions, you can bring those skills into everyday moments: the conversation after work, a disagreement about spending, or the handoff at bedtime.

What to expect when we begin

We begin by understanding your relationship rather than rushing into advice. The assessment typically includes a joint intake, an individual meeting with each partner, and a feedback session. Together, we identify your strengths, the patterns causing distress, and whether couples therapy is an appropriate fit.

You will have a shared treatment plan and priorities to work toward. We revisit those goals as therapy progresses and consider what is changing outside the session. The pace and length of the work depend on your relationship, circumstances, and goals.

Your identities and experiences belong in the room

I work with LGBTQ+ couples and parents, first-generation and immigrant couples, Asian and South Asian couples, cross-cultural and interfaith partners, and professionals balancing demanding careers with family life. There is room to explore how identity, culture, family loyalty, and your experiences of belonging shape the relationship.

Whether you are building a life in the Seattle area, settling into a new community, or raising a family elsewhere in Washington, we can examine the expectations each of you carries and decide which ones support the partnership you want.
