Frequently Asked Questions

Clients often seek support for anxiety, depression, ADHD, burnout, stress, self-esteem, relationship challenges, life transitions, identity concerns, parenting stress, and feeling stuck despite being high-functioning or successful on the outside.

Currently I only offer virtual/telehealth sessions.

Illinois, Texas, Washington D.C, Virginia, Florida, and Massachusetts.

I offer sessions Sunday through Friday, with a mix of early morning, mid-afternoon, and evening availability. Because my schedule changes, the easiest way to find a time that works for you is to reach out directly—I’m always happy to talk through current availability.

Many clients come to me after previous therapy experiences where they felt heard but not necessarily changed. Sessions with me are intentional and collaborative, and most clients leave with clear takeaways, tools, or reflections they can apply between sessions.

While I’m not in network with insurance, I do offer a service through Thrizer to directly submit out of network claims to your insurance and collect whatever co-pays might be the client’s responsibility. If you’d like to learn more about this process feel free to reach out or you can check your benefits directly with Thrizer here: https://eligibility.thrizer.com/dipeshpatellcsw . I am also happy to provide clients with insurance ready superbills to submit to their health plans if they would prefer to handle that process on their own. Clients are recommended to check with their insurance plans directly for out of network coverage/benefits.

In many cases, yes. A large majority of clients who submit superbills receive meaningful reimbursement for a significant portion of their out-of-pocket therapy costs, depending on their insurance plan.

Sessions are structured but flexible. We’ll explore what’s coming up for you, identify patterns, and work toward practical next steps. Therapy may include reflection, skill-building, values clarification, or tools you can apply in daily life.

For individual therapy there’s no one-size-fits-all answer. Some clients work with me short-term around a specific issue, while others choose longer-term therapy for deeper or ongoing growth. I typically like to start working together on a weekly or biweekly basis, especially early on, to build momentum and create consistency. As progress happens and things begin to feel more stable, most clients naturally move to less frequent sessions, and over time we often reach a point where meeting on an as-needed basis makes the most sense. We’ll regularly check in to make sure therapy continues to feel helpful, intentional, and aligned with your goals.

Couples therapy is a little bit different, most couples start to see meaningful progress within a 3–6 month timeframe. This gives us space to both understand what’s happening and begin shifting it in real time.

From there, some couples choose to continue, while others transition out and return later for check-ins or tune-ups when needed.

The goal is not ongoing therapy—it’s helping you build the skills to navigate things on your own, with support available when you want it.

Couples therapy begins with a structured, Gottman Method–informed assessment designed to give us a clear understanding of your relationship. This is what the process looks like:

Step 1: Joint Intake Session (55 minutes)
We map out what’s happening in your relationship—patterns, breakdowns, and what’s not working.

Step 2: Individual Sessions (55 minutes each)
Each partner has space to share context, history, and perspective.

Step 3: Feedback + Roadmap Session (55 minutes)
You get a clear understanding of your relationship dynamics and a structured plan to start making changes.

From the beginning, this process is designed to move quickly from insight into action.

Yes. In addition to weekly couples therapy, I offer full-day couples therapy intensives for partners who want to make meaningful progress in a concentrated format. A full-day intensive includes approximately 6 hours of structured therapy in a single day, allowing us to move much deeper into the work than is typically possible in standard weekly sessions.

Intensives are helpful for couples who feel stuck in recurring patterns, are navigating a major decision (such as marriage, separation, or having children), or who simply want to accelerate progress without spreading the work over several months.

During the intensive we slow down key moments in your relationship, identify the interaction cycles that keep conflict repeating, and work on both practical communication tools and deeper emotional understanding. My approach draws from Gottman Method Couples Therapy and Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), helping couples both strengthen their friendship and rebuild emotional safety.

Many couples appreciate the immersive nature of an intensive because it allows for focused momentum, deeper insight, and concrete next steps by the end of the day.

If you are interested in scheduling a couples intensive, please reach out through the contact page to discuss availability and whether this format would be a good fit for your situation.

Under the No Surprises Act, you have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate explaining how much your medical or mental health care may cost.

If you are uninsured or choosing not to use insurance, you are entitled to receive a written estimate of the expected charges for services before those services are provided.

Your Good Faith Estimate will outline the anticipated cost of therapy services based on the information available at the time it is created. Because therapy is individualized, the total number of sessions needed may vary, and the estimate may be updated if your treatment needs change.

If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you have the right to dispute the bill through a federal patient-provider dispute resolution process.

You may request a Good Faith Estimate before scheduling services or at any time during treatment.
